VIETNAM – THE NEW TRENDY DESTINATION IN SOUTH EAST ASIA

2018 was considered a successful year for Vietnam tourism. Vietnam is honored by the World Travel Awards as the leading tourist destination in Asia, one of the most chosen places in Asia with a wide variety of tourism attractions.

Vietnam today is also known as a safe and attractive destination with many scenic spots, friendly and hospitable people. Towns such as Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc or Ho Chi Minh City have attracted many tourists around the world.

Besides, Vietnam is also the destination of many major international events in the world. Recently, Vietnam has been very proud to be selected as the venue for the 2nd US – Korea Summit. Especially, from 2020, Hanoi will be the host city to host Formula Racing.

In recent years, the number of international tourists to Vietnam has increased rapidly. In 2018, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million international tourists, nearly double the number of visitors in 2015, of which about 13% of visitors came from Europe.

According to Pierre Schapira, Chairman of the Paris Tourism and Conference Agency, with 15 weekly direct flights connecting Paris with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, France is Vietnam’s potential tourist market, which is gateway for European tourists to Vietnam. In 2018, about 300,000 French tourists came to Vietnam and about 100,000 Vietnamese people traveled to France. According to the latest statistics of the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in June 2019 is estimated at 1,185,445 arrivals. Globally for the first 6 months of 2019, specialists estimated to reach 8,480,993 visitors, an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period of 2018.

The numbers are constantly improving, that fact proved that Vietnam is a potential market for tourism industry.
